The gorgeous little town of Loch Village is one of my favourite places to visit in South Gippsland. Its quaint and lively main street is full of great cafes and interesting stores with unique pieces. The surrounding countryside is dominated by green rolling hills and scenic farmland. These 7 things to do in Loch Village in Victoria include enjoying the local food and wine, but also getting out and seeing some of the glorious countryside, whether on foot or on two wheels.

Things to do in Loch Victoria
1. Ride the Great Southern Rail Trail
The Loch Rail Trail is part of the old train line that extends all the way from the near by town of Nyora toward the coastal town of Port Welshpool. Located on the other side of the South Gippsland Highway via a open tunnel, the trail offers a safe place to walk or ride.
Starting at the old train station you can either head left toward Nyora, a relatively flat section of the trail or uphill toward Korumburra to your right. You’ll pass through farm land and an abundant amount of scenic surrounds.
Why visit: A safe and scenic way to see surrounding countryside.

2. Loch Suspension Bridge & Memorial Reserve
Built in the year 2000, the Loch Suspension Bridge connects the town to Memorial Reserve. You can access the bridge from the rail trail and only a short walk from the main street.
Make sure you turn right from the tunnel entrance onto the trail, and walk the short distance till you see the “rec reserve” sign. Turn onto the narrow track and it is not far from here.
The bridge passes over Allsop Creek and onto the reserve where you will find a covered BBQ area with picnic tables.
For those wishing to camp, the reserve has camping facilities such as powered or unpowered sites, BBQs and toilet block. Powered sites: $25 / Unpowered $20 per night. Payment via honesty box.

3. Loch Brewery & Distillery
Located in the main street is the delightful and charming Loch Brewery & Distillery. It is situated in the 100 year old former bank building, and is an historical classic. The interior is a welcoming space, made even better with a gin in hand.
Sample the various beers or relish in a gin, vodka or single malt whisky. On a warm day you can head outside to the picnic tables and watch the world go by over a drop or two.
Why visit: a must visit and highlight of Loch Village. Great range of drinks.

4. Gippsland Wine Company
The Gippsland Wine Company is highly regarded in the region, and can be found just after the turnoff to Loch Village on the South Gippsland Highway. It offers a cellar door showcasing their range of cool climate wines.
Grab a tasting paddle or a glass and relax in the outdoor seating area overlooking the vines and surrounding hills.
Even for those who don’t drink wine, you can grab a beer or non alcoholic drink and even make your own basket of goodies (think cheeses and accompaniments) to enjoy on site.

5. Cape Horn Lookout

A short drive out of town 1.5 km along the Loch-Wonthaggi road, is the Cape Horn Lookout. This is a great chance to see the country side from up high with views all the way to the coast on a clear day. You will find a compass with points of interest to the areas other attractions and towns.

6. Sunny Side Park
Sunny Side Park is a small park at the end of the main street with a pavilion and public toilets connected. The children’s playground offers shaded areas to sit and watch the kids safely play. You will also find a skate park here.

7. Loch Village Shopping
Who would have thought this small village could have so many interesting and unique shops to explore. The town itself is extremely quaint and exactly as you would picture a country village to look and feel, with cottage style shops, flowering planters and lots of greenery and shade.
It has quite a treasure trove of stores, with one seamlessly complimenting the next.

7. Loch Village Cafe Life
Loch has become famous for its glorious local produce, which is quite evident on a weekend. Indoor and outdoor dining venues invite fresh country air and delightful aromas.
The town has many amazing dining venues so choosing where eat is no easy task.
