kilcunda

The dramatic coastline around Kilcunda is extremely rugged and completely dramatic. It’s the place of uncrowded bays, and long walks either along the beach or up along the cliff top. Kilcunda is simply a place of raw beauty and relaxed vibes.

about

Kilcunda is a small town located between Phillip Island and Wonthaggi. As you enter the town via the Bass Highway, you’ll immediately be drawn to the incredible ocean views. This once relatively quiet place is now the ‘place to stop”, whether for a day trip or something a little longer. It is perfect for people who love the outdoors and families looking for a more chilled type of beach vacation. The town only has a couple of shops but San Remo and Wonthaggi are just a short drive away.

You simply can’t go past the Kilcunda General Store when it comes to dining out. It’s a absolute favourite of mine and has an extensive range of food options. From amazing salads to gourmet sandwiches, burgers and light meals, plus good coffee and desserts. The store overlooks the ocean and has indoor and out door seating.

Out back you’ll find Udder and Hoe, a space dedicated to the local producers of the region. Fill your basket with organic fruits and vegetables, condiments, wine, freshly baked bread and so much more.

The Ocean View Hotel is another great place to dine and had a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. While the restaurant serves up all the typical Aussie classics, the Cuban head chef serves up some specialty dishes such as Cuban style pork ribs. I just had to try the La Pampa (BBQ chicken) which was very flavoursome and quite delicious.
