Established since 2010, the Gippsland Wine Company is a convenient stop along the South Gippsland Hwy, and only 1.20 hrs east of Melbourne.

Its home base at the Loch Village Vineyard has a cellar door offering a range of cool climate wines. Each bottle comes from a unique piece of land in the surrounding area. The micro locations have been carefully selected for suitability to produce a variety of wines including including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

The rustic establishment has a small cellar door for purchases and wine tastings. But it’s the relaxed outdoor area, both open or undercover that’s perfect for sipping wine overlooking the vineyard and rolling hills in the background. Grab a tasting paddle and find yourself a cozy spot. You’ll also be able to purchase local beers, ciders and others drinks to enjoy.

Burra Brewery

The Burra Brewing Co has an incredible following, local and afar. A sure indication on its immense popularity in the town of Korumburra. Since its opening in 2017, the microbrewery continues to produce a wide range of exciting brews.

Cellar Door

From fan favourites including golden, pale and dark ale, to lager and Amarillo IPA, the Burra Brewery serves up plenty of liquid gold. For those with the job of having to drive, a light ale is the smart choice.

You’ll also discover a range of “limited release” beers constantly coming through the drinks menu. From Finger Lime, Pilsner, Miners Stout and Ginger Beer, thirsty patrons are well taken care of.

Grab a tasting paddle to satisfy your curiosity and either sit indoors around the huge vats on display, or outside in the beer garden.

What’s to eat!

What goes best with beer? You guessed it, pizza!

The wood fired pizzas here are a regular order in my household (the hubby has a decent obsession) . While he won’t shift from his chili base order, I like to mix things up a bit more. But when in doubt, the lamb souvlaki is a sure winner.

Waratah Hills Vineyard

One of most stunning wineries in South Gippsland has to be Waratah Hills. You’ll most likely come for the wine but end up staying for a wonderful indulgent experience. Only a few minutes out the town, the Fish Creek winery is a must visit.

Cellar Door

Specialising in cool climate wines, Waratah Hills focuses on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The award winning wines are best enjoyed out on the grassy lawns where the views of the vines and surrounding hills easily put you into relaxation mode. You’ll also find plenty of other choices to satisfy everyone.

The winery also has a large indoor area with ample seating and a gorgeous terrace area for warmer days.

What’s to eat!

Utilising fresh ingredients from the region as well as from the on-site garden, the menu is perfect for sharing, and wonderfully presented. Grazing boards look inviting as do the seasonal salads. I highly recommend coming here for a special occasion, or any occasion in fact.

Gurneys Cidery

a group of people sitting at a wooden picnic table overlooking lush green pastures

The Gurnett family have truly hit it out of the park park with this amazing establishment. With views reaching the majestic Wilsons Promontory National Park, visitors will be treated to an afternoon of good times and great ciders.

Cellar Door

Only the finest ingredients make it into the ciders, with no preservatives, sugar or water added. While I usually cannot stomach commercially made ciders (massive heartburn), I certainly have no trouble downing the ciders here.

With ciders made from quality apples, pears, cherries and local Banksia honey, I recommend getting the tasting paddle so you can try them all.

To gain a better understanding of the process to make cider, why not join a farm tour. Booking are essential and run during days the cidery is open.

What’s to eat!

The menu here is made up of light bites, simple and fresh. Charcuterie boards consist of Amber Creek cabana, chorizo, vintage cheddar, crackers and chutney. On weekends visitors can enjoy a much larger spread that includes meats, cheeses, crackers, olives, breads and seasonal fruits.

When & Where

343 Fish Creek – Foster Rd, Foster

Wednesday to Sunday 12 pm to 4 pm

Dirty Three Wines

If this was a popularity contest, Dirty Three Wines would certainly be a front runner in this list of South Gippsland wineries.. Located in the tourist friendly town of Inverloch, this place sees its fair share of visitors. While you won’t be seeing any vines on the horizon, the inviting premise certainly knows how to throw out the “good time” vibes all day long.

Cellar Door

Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Rose, Riesling and Sparkling are just some of the delectable wines on offer here. Grab a tasting flight so you don’t miss getting to try some of the range. Or better yet, sit down to a tasting session and be guided through each sip.

During the busy holiday season and many weekends throughout the year you’ll be treated to regular live music. A sure fire way to spend a vibrant afternoon.

What’s to eat!

Simply and tasty, the menu is perfect for light nibbles and plates to share among friends. Bruschetta, terrine and cheeses are some of the items you can expect to see on the menu.

Grand Ridge Brewery

One of Mirboo North’s main attractions is the Grand Ridge Brewery, which has been in operation since 1989. Converted from the old butter factory, visitors can sample a range of craft beers and ciders. You’ll also find a full bar menu to satisfy all thirsty patrons.

Cellar Door

The beer here is produced with the highest quality spring water, hops, yeast and and malt, with no preservatives. Serving up heavy, light and dessert beers, it’s easy to find something to your liking. It’s often that we grab a six pack of moonshine to take home for later.

A more recent addition is the Twisted Sister collection of apple and pear cider.

What’s to eat!

Open for lunch and dinner, visitors will find a full pub style menu in the restaurant. For entree’s, main meals and desserts, you can’t go past a classic chicken parm and cold beer.
