Fish Creek is one of South Gippsland’s most interesting towns. It is a main stopping point for those heading to Wilsons Prom, and is the perfect place to base yourself in order to access many of the regions best attractions. With an array of art galleries, local producers and scenic highlights, there are many wonderful things to do in Fish Creek during your next visit.

1. Celia Rosser Gallery
The Celia Rosser Gallery is an incredible space dedicated to the artist herself. It showcases a beautifully presented arrangement of her artwork, focused on botanical prints.
The large collection on display adorn crisp white walls and backgrounds, enabling each guest to take in the incredible details to each piece of artwork. There is also a collection of gift cards as well as hand made banksia wood pieces.
Be sure to stay for a chat as Celia is often found greeting guests as they enter the gallery. You can also grab tea and coffee and a sweet bite from the on-site cafe.

2. Stefani Hilltop Gallery
A short 1 minute drive from the main street of Fish Creek takes you to Stefani Hilltop Gallery.
The gallery is located in an historic home, built early last century. Each room is furnished and includes the many diverse pieces by the artist, Bianca Biesuz – Stefani.
During my visit, Bianca was incredibly accommodating and only too happy to discuss her many wonderful pieces. Her talents are evident from the different types of paintings she creates, from portrait to landscape, from local to international scenes and so much more. She is also one of the few artists who paints on gum leaves.
I had delightful conversation which included browsing her extensive collection of salt and pepper shakers. Be sure to visit next time you are in Fish Creek.

3. Wallace & Wallace Sculptures and Photography
For more Fish Creek things to do, a stop at Wallace & Wallace is well worth it.
Located in the centre of town, the store houses the incredibly talented photography and sculptures by Domencia and Andrew Wallace.
I was simply amazed by the collection of astounding photos on display. Featuring local scenes in dazzling depictions only someone with excessive talent could pull off. Also, the collection of sculptures using natural fibres were eye catching and uniquely different in a wonderful way.

4. Ride the Wild Goat Gallery
What an amazing collection of sculptures to be viewed at Ride the Wild Goat Gallery. Focusing largely on solid timber pieces, but also other recycled materials, the brilliant works from Andrew McPherson are not only unique, but flawless in execution. His use of playful and quirky certainly adds a smile to the face.
The gallery displays a range of timber pieces including, sculptures, furnishing, wall art and more.
You may have also noticed the large wind fish sculpture in town, a collaborative piece from Andrew seen further along the footpath. Acting as a wind vain, it adds another colourful addition to the town.

5. Waratah Hills Vineyard
The Waratah Hills Vineyard is a popular Fish Creek attraction for good reason. The winery is famous for cool climate wines, specializing in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
Guests can sip and dine in the restaurant, outside on the courtyard tables, or out on the lawn overlooking the vines. The vibe is a relaxing one with good friends, good food and impeccable service. With an ever changing seasonal menu celebrating the region, Waratah Hills offers sumptuous grazing boards and freshly cooked meals in an outstanding location.

6. Dividing Creek Farm Honey
Dividing Creek Farm Honey is one of the newer attractions in Fish Creek, and does not disappoint.
Visitors are encouraged to taste the many varieties of honey, each providing a different sweet sensation. I’ve personally chosen the Spring Harvest and Single Origin to take home, plus a small tray of honeycomb.
Located on the family’s cattle farm, the owner Matt is as enthusiastic as they come, and explains the delicate process of farming bees. He encourages visitors to come along especially when extraction days are on. You’ll get the chance to watch the process in action and gain a better insight into bee keeping. The shop also has candles, chocolates, lip balm and soaps all made from the farms honey to name a few.

7. Golden Creek Olives
The lovely hidden gem of Golden Creek Olives is nestled just a few minutes out of Fish Creek.
The expansive olive grove has trees originating from Italy, Greece and Spain which produces award winning Australian extra virgin olive oil. The olives are picked, processed, bottled and stored on site utilizing cold pressing equipment,
Visitors can purchase the olive oils as well as whole olives from the farm and from specialty stores in Fish Creek and throughout South Gippsland.

8. Great Southern Rail Trail
Part of the Great Southern Rail Trail, Fish Creek is a great starting point to get on your bike and see the surrounding countryside. It’s also great for walkers and provides a scenic and safe way to explore.
You can either head toward the township of Meeniyan which is around 18 km or head toward Foster which is 12.4 km. Enjoy the picturesque surrounds, lush ferns gullys and wooded areas along the way, and be on the lookout for native wildlife.

9. Mount Nicoll Lookout
The views from Mount Nicoll Lookout and absolutely insane, and it’s only a short hike to reach the summit.
The turn off to the lookout car park is found on the road to Foster. You’ll drive up a gravel road to the starting point and from here it is only a 10 minute walk through lightly dense forest. Though the track is not very wide and at times you have to navigate over bracken and scrub, the views will ease any discomfort.
To one side at the lookout you have expansive views taking in the coast as well as Wilsons Promontory off in the distance. There is a wooden bench to sit back and take it all in.
Then looking back the opposite direction you can see the rolling green hills of South Gippsland as far as the eye can see. It is truly impressive.
You can also choose to take the longer and more steep Loader Walk from the car park which takes an estimated one hour return.

10. Fish Creek Picnic Area
Right in the heart of Fish Creek is a park visitors can utilise during their visit. It is a place the kids will enjoy as there is a playground on site. Take a walk up the trail to the Community Garden which is located right next tot he original Fish Creek Railway Station.
The park has a rotunda with picnic tables under cover and you can also find public toilets here.
